The Oecht Fort was a temporary fort built to defend Peppatown (Pepatone) during King Vasyliev I of Suzy's invasion of 1344. It was a quadrangular fort, built similar to Windy Castle.
It was located in Arjibi (Arckhybi).
History[]
Around 1343, tension began to build up within The Free State of Peppatown about who should be the ruler: the then king Percy I, Peppatownian Lord Finley, or the invader Vasyliev I of Suzy. Percy I was chosen to stay as ruler, Lord Finley was assassinated and Peppatown prepared for Vasyliev's invasion. In 1344, the Oecht Fort was built to defend Peppatown. After weeks of continuous fighting, Vasyliev eventually gained control of Peppatown and he had Percy I killed, after only eleven months of rule.
In 1345, Vasyliev I had the Oecht Fort demolished.
In 1518, Iojhanes Porke noted that the Oecht Fort was "the roting remayns of its foyrmer selfe". He also described the Fort as "dysapoynting".
The ruins of the Oecht Fort were no longer present by the time of the construction of the Arjibi Concert Hall in 1848 and the site has never been excavated.
