Criticism and controversies[]

2012 cardiac arrest cases caused by Scentman perfume[]

Cardiac arrest is one of the main causes of death in certain countries in the Peppaverse. On June 11, 2012, the excess potassium in Scentman's Lucas perfume collection, originally produced to become a bestseller, resulted in 875 cases of cardiac arrest in males; 67% of them were pronounced dead at hospital. Bluhart responded immediately and, therefore, the Lucas perfume collection was pulled the next day.

As of November 2018, the cases of cardiac arrest caused by excess potassium in men's perfumes are slim to none.

2013 opium scandal[]

In early 2013, suspicions that Blubrite's Classic Clean toothpaste contained opium were posted on the Internet. This was later concretely proven by research teams, stating that Blubrite 'should not continue injecting high amounts of opium into their toothpaste'. Also, Bluhart immediately apologized, and therefore, launched the Law-Friendly Consumer Products initiative to reduce the amount of illegal drugs injected daily into food, drinks, and other consumer products.
